Gujarat Titans haven’t reached Ahmedabad for the final of the IPL 2026 against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Their flight from Chandigarh has been delayed due to bad weather. This is the first instance of the team travelling a day before the final after the Board of Control for Cricket in India decided to host the playoffs at three stadiums instead of two.
According to a report in ESPNcricinfo, the Titans were supposed to leave for Ahmedabad on Saturday afternoon, but heavy downpour and thunderstorms have led to the delay. The GT team is likely to land in Ahmedabad only after 10 pm on Saturday night.
“Gujarat Titans players and support staff were supposed to leave Chandigarh on Saturday after their win against Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2 on Friday. However, the clearance was not given due to the downpour. GT are likely to reach Ahmedabad after 10 pm before they head to their hotel, which is a 30-minute drive from the airport,” the report said.
GT and RCB were part of Qualifier 1, with the defending team registering a big win. The Titans qualified for the final after thumping RR in Qualifier 2 in New Chandigarh, courtesy a century from captain Shubman Gill.
“We had enough time to rest and recover after Qualifier 1. GT are coming from Qualifier 2,” Patidar said at the pre-match press conference ahead of the mega final.
“There is some advantage but not the big one because both franchises are in form and have played good cricket,” he added.
