Knews Desk- An important change is going to be implemented for LPG consumers from June 1. The government has clarified that households where Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connection is available and is being used may have to surrender the LPG cylinder connection. The move aims to make the gas distribution system more effective and ensure better utilization of resources.
In fact, PNG network is being expanded rapidly across the country. Till March, lakhs of new PNG connections have been issued, but despite this many consumers are also using LPG cylinders. The government believes that this puts additional pressure on the gas supply system and resources are not distributed properly to the needy consumers.
According to the report, many families took the PNG connection but did not surrender the LPG connection. In view of this, instructions have been given to the concerned agencies to ensure compliance with the rules. If a consumer is found to have both the connections and does not follow the prescribed rules, action can be taken against his LPG connection.
However, the government says that the purpose of this change is not to put consumers in trouble, but to make the gas distribution system more transparent and systematic. In such a situation, consumers who have PNG facility in their homes have been advised to take necessary steps after getting information about the rules.
