After the fight for the post of Chief Minister in Karnataka is over, now the Congress high command is busy in forming the cabinet and electing the new State Congress President. DK Shivakumar will soon take oath as the new Chief Minister. The swearing-in ceremony may take place on Monday. The cabinet can have a total of 34 members, including the Chief Minister.

Many senior leaders of Dalit and Lingayat communities are demanding the post of Deputy Chief Minister and important departments. Leaders like G Parameshwara, KH Muniyappa, Priyank Kharge, MB Patil and Ishwar Khandre are in the race. About 15 ministers from Siddaramaiah’s old cabinet can be kept in the new cabinet.

Why will DK Shivakumar’s problems increase?

Earlier there was talk of making four Deputy Chief Ministers, but now there are preparations to limit them to one or two. According to a TOI report, Shivakumar wants to keep the Bengaluru Development and Finance departments with him if he becomes the Chief Minister. Home Minister G Parameshwara is demanding the finance department, while KH Muniyappa and HK Patil want the water resources department. Now DK Shivkumar himself is stuck on these demands.

Battle for KPCC post also

MB Patil is trying to save his industries department. A meeting of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal was held in Delhi, in which the Cabinet, new Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee Chief and Rajya Sabha elections were discussed.

Will Lingayat face get a chance?

Satish Jarkiholi’s name was at the forefront for the new KPCC president but he wants both the posts of Deputy Chief Minister and President. Now the high command is considering giving this responsibility to a Dalit or Lingayat leader.

Will Siddaramaiah get a big chance?

The names of G Parameshwara and MB Patil are also included in it. Siddaramaiah’s son Yatindra Siddaramaiah is likely to be given an important portfolio. Muslim leaders UT Khader, Zameer Ahmed Khan, NA Haris and Salim Ahmed may also get ministerial berths.

20 new faces may be included in the new cabinet

Congress leaders from Kolar district met Kharge and demanded three ministerial posts. Lingayat MLAs have also demanded more representation in the cabinet and the post of Deputy Chief Minister. Sources reveal that at least 20 new faces can be included in the new cabinet.
