New chapter of Palace on Wheels
Rajasthan’s famous and grand train ‘Palace on Wheels’ has set a new milestone. For the first time in its 43 years of history, this luxury train has set out on a journey in May. With this historic decision, the train has broken the old tradition of running between September to April.
Start of journey for the first time in summer
Since its introduction in 1982, this train has never run in summer. Generally, it is kept closed between May to August, as the temperature in Rajasthan goes above 42 degrees Celsius during this time. But this time, due to increasing demand of passengers and special booking of the entire train, it was rescheduled to 21 May 2026.
Royal tour and luxurious facilities
‘Palace on Wheels’ is considered one of the most luxurious luxury trains in the world. The train takes passengers on a week-long royal tour of historical sites like Jaipur, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Agra. During this trip, guests enjoy visiting grand palaces, excellent food, cultural programs and safaris.
travel fare
The starting fare to travel in this royal train is around Rs 84,000 per person. At the same time, if someone wants to travel in its most grand and premium suites, then its fare can exceed Rs 2 lakh.
45% increase in bookings
This important decision of running trains in summer has been taken in view of the increasing interest of passengers. According to reports, passengers traveling in months other than scheduled and special bookings have seen a 45% increase. Despite the heat of Rajasthan, people are now preferring this comfortable and royal journey rather than the ordinary journey. With its lavish décor, luxurious suites and personalized staff, this train continues to make India proud even today.
