Tata Tiago EV Facelift 2026— Strengthening its hold in the Indian automobile market, Tata Motors has officially launched the 2026 Tata Tiago EV Facelift, the new incarnation of its most popular electric hatchback in the domestic market. The company has launched this vehicle at a very aggressive price, the starting ex-showroom price of which has been fixed at Rs 6.99 lakh. Along with this, to attract budget customers, Tata has also included Battery as a Service (BaaS) program on the lines of MG, under which the starting price of the car comes down to just Rs 4.69 lakh (ex-showroom). Customers purchasing this model will have to pay separately for the battery per kilometer.

The Complete Mathematics of BaaS Rental Models and Variants
Tata Motors has introduced this vehicle with two different ownership models. If you want to buy the car complete with battery, prices range from Rs 6.99 lakh to Rs 9.99 lakh, depending on the variant. At the same time, if you want to enjoy an electric car in a low budget, then you can choose the BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service) option. Under this rental plan, you will have to pay the initial price of the vehicle at Rs 4.69 lakh and after that you will have to pay battery rent at the rate of Rs 2.6 per kilometer.
The company has divided the new Tiago EV into a total of three main trims, which offer different battery pack options:
- Smart (19.2 kWh): Rs 6.99 lakh (full purchase)
- Pure Plus (19.2 kWh): Rs 8.49 lakh
- Pure Plus (24 kWh): Rs 9.49 lakh
- Creative Plus (24 kWh): Rs 9.99 lakh
What changed in the design and cabin?
Visually, the new Tiago EV now looks sportier and more modern than ever. Its front profile has been completely redesigned, where you now get a setup of new eyebrow-shaped LED DRLs and slim reflector-style LED headlamps. Since it is a pure electric model, it has a completely closed, body-coloured grille at the front which differentiates it from the large black grille of the conventional petrol-diesel model. A new bumper and connected LED tail lamps have been provided at the rear which give a great look to the car at night.
As soon as you step inside the car, you get to see a new-age cabin. It now has a new dual-tone black and light gray theme dashboard, which makes the cabin feel quite open and airy. Tata has finally addressed the old complaint of the customers and has also included rear AC vents in this hatchback and Type-C charging ports for the rear passengers.
Cool features like 10.25-inch screen and 360-degree camera
Talking about the features, 2026 Tiago EV Facelift has become the most tech-loaded car in its segment. It has a large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Additionally, the car has been equipped with premium segment-first features like 360-degree surround view camera and blind view monitor for the first time, which will make driving in narrow streets and heavy traffic extremely easy. Other key features include wireless phone charger, automatic climate control, rain-sensing wipers and cruise control.
Battery pack, range and fast charging capability
On the powertrain front, Tata has retained the existing options, but has made its charging technology up to 40% faster than before. The car is available with two battery options:
| Battery pack options motor output Claimed Range (MIDC) |
| **19.2 kWh (Medium Range)** | 61 BHP / 110 Nm | 226 kilometers
| **24 kWh (Long Range)** | 74 BHP / 114 Nm | 285 kilometers
Regarding charging, the company claims that with the help of any DC fast charger, this car can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 35 minutes. Even if you charge it for just 18 minutes, it will be ready to travel about 100 kilometers. Additionally, in a big saving grace, Tata has announced a lifetime unlimited kilometer high-voltage battery warranty with the 24 kWh long range version.
Safety Standards: Now 6 airbags will be available as standard
Tata Motors has always been known for the strength and safety of its cars. Taking the safety a notch higher in the new Tiago EV Facelift, 6 airbags have now been made mandatory in all variants as standard, right from the base model. Additionally, the safety kit includes features like Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Traction Control, Hill Hold Assist, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and ABS with EBD, making it one of the safest entry-level electric cars on Indian roads.
With whom will there be direct competition in the market?
In the Indian market, this updated electric hatchback will compete directly with the already existing MG Comet EV and Citroen eC3. However, with a starting BaaS price of Rs 4.69 lakh and standard safety like 6 airbags, Tata has posed a big challenge to its rival brands.
