Massive Voter Participation Across Punjab
According to election officials, around 22.38 lakh voters cast their ballots at 3,833 polling booths spread across Punjab. The voting was held for eight municipal corporations, 75 municipal councils, and 20 nagar panchayats.
Authorities deployed nearly 32,000 police personnel and 35,000 election staff to maintain law and order during polling and counting operations. Nearly 1,000 polling booths were categorized as sensitive or hypersensitive due to heightened political tensions.
AAP Registers Strong Wins in Key Areas
AAP maintained a strong lead throughout the counting process and recorded major victories in several prominent regions. In Gidderbaha, the assembly constituency of Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, the ruling party won 17 out of 19 wards.
The party also performed strongly in Mohali Municipal Corporation by winning multiple awards, while Sarabjeet Samana, son of AAP MLA Kulwant Singh, emerged victorious and is expected to become Mohali mayor.
