New Delhi:Tesla has expanded its Indian lineup of the Tesla Model Y with the launch of the new Premium Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) variant, priced at Rs 50.89 lakh (ex-showroom). The American brand has also discontinued the Long Range Premium RWD version that was previously positioned much higher at Rs 67.89 lakh.
Deliveries for the newly introduced Model Y Premium RWD are set to begin in July 2026.
The brand now just has two trims of the Model Y being offered in India presently, the Oremium RWD and L Premium AWD. The entry-level with RWD setup now costs about Rs 11.1 lakh less than the top-spec six-seater Model Y with all-wheel drive, which was launched in India in April this year.

The Model Y sold in international markets gets a 64kWh battery pack paired with a single rear-mounted electric motor, making 299 bhp. The 2026 Model Y RWD trim in India has a WLTP range of up to 500 km, and the premium EV can do 0-100 kph in 5.9 seconds with a top speed of 201 kph.
Tesla has claimed that the Model Y RWD can replenish up to 238 km in about 15 minutes, with a DC fast-charging speed of up to 175 kW when plugged to a Supercharger.

It can be had in either an All-Black or Zen Grey interior theme. Tesla has said the Model Y offers a maximum cargo capacity of 2,138 litres with the back seats folded down. The entry-level variant of the Model Y gets Tesla’s latest 16-inch main touchscreen, with an 8-inch display for backseat occupants. Much like before, most of the on-board functiosna re controlled through the big touchscreen at the front, and the brand has claimed it has been tweaked for better response.
Features include things like a panoramic glass roof, ventilated front seats, wireless charging, ambient lighting, powered folding rear seats, a powered tailgate and acoustic glass insulation for better cabin refinement.
Safety equipment includes seven airbags, surround-view cameras and an ADAS suite. The optional Full-Self Driving (FSD) costs Rs 6 lakh more, which only gets the automatic parking function, as the regulation approvals in India are still pending.
