These days, the Congress Party is going through a major change which is becoming a topic of discussion in the country’s politics. The party’s decisions have now become a topic of discussion across the country. In Tamil Nadu, the party abandoned its old ally DMK and supported Vijay and made him the CM. Despite the support of the MLAs in Kerala, the popular VD Satheesan was made the CM in place of Rahul Gandhi’s close aide KC Venugopal and now the party has taken a big decision to end the drama in Karnataka. A big meeting is going on today at Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah’s house and it is believed that after this meeting he may resign and his deputy DK Shivakumar may get the fruits of patience. Meanwhile, former Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot is being discussed.

CM Siddaramaiah’s resignation has not yet been officially confirmed by Congress, but political developments are clearly indicating that DK Shikumar is going to get the key to power in Karnataka. According to information received from sources, Rahul Gandhi has asked for resignation from Siddaramaiah. However, the Congress leadership was going to do something similar in Rajasthan a few years ago but Ashok Gehlot, who is called a magician, did not accept the party’s decision and remained the CM.

Ashok Gehlot played?

In 2028, Congress party came to power in Rajasthan but the party made Ashok Gehlot the CM instead of Sachin Pilot. Sachin Pilot kept trying for five years but Ashok Gehlot ruined all his efforts. Once Sachin Pilot even rebelled along with his supporting MLAs but his attempt also failed.

Not only Sachin Pilot but Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi also tried to call Ashok Gehlot to Delhi and asked him to leave the Rajasthan chair. However, Ashok Gehlot rejected the post of National President of Congress and preferred to remain the CM. Ashok Gehlot foiled all the efforts of the party high command.

had stepped down from the post of Congress President

The party wanted to make Ashok Gehlot the national president of the Congress Party. Ashok Gehlot had refused to contest the elections for the post of President of Congress Party. It is being told that at that time Ashok Gehlot did not want to leave the post of CM at any cost because the party’s choice after him would have been his opponent Sachin Pilot. The MLAs close to Ashok Gehlot had created a very uncomfortable situation for the party observers. He had to return to Delhi without the legislature party meeting. Gandhi family loyalist Ashok Gehlot rebelled against the party high command, albeit indirectly.

Experts believe that this development has weakened Gehlot’s image among the top leadership of Congress. After this incident, the party had also issued a notice to the MLAs close to Ashok Gehlot. However, after this the party high command accepted defeat and instead of confrontation, allowed Ashok Gehlot to remain the CM of Rajasthan.

Will Siddaramaiah play like Ashok Gehlot?

The situation which was facing Ashok Gehlot in 2022, is the same situation facing the current Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah today. The party wants him to leave his chair and let DK Shivakumar become the CM. According to MLAs close to him, he has already given a promise to the party leadership that he will resign. However, politics is a game of possibilities. In such a situation, everyone’s eyes will be on Siddaramaiah’s next step. In Rajasthan, the party was out of power due to the tussle between Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot, but Karnataka is like a do-or-die contest for the Congress party. Congress has government in only a few states and Karnataka is the most important among them. Therefore the party has its eyes on the state.
