E20 Petrol Mileage Drop: Recently, the concern of vehicle owners has started increasing regarding E20 petrol which has been implemented across the country. Let us tell you that a new survey has revealed that mileage and engine problems are increasing in petrol vehicles purchased in 2022 or before. For information, let us tell you that according to the survey of LocalCircles, almost half of the petrol vehicle owners admitted that the fuel efficiency of their vehicle has reduced in the last 9 months.
Along with this, this survey was conducted in 301 districts of the country in which more than 50 thousand vehicle owners had participated. In which people from small towns to big cities participated. Let us tell you that the report has especially highlighted the concerns of old two-wheeler and budget car owners.
What is E20 petrol and why is it causing problems?
Talking about E20 petrol, 20% ethanol and 80% normal petrol is mixed in it. Which the government is using to reduce pollution and reduce dependence on oil imports. But it has also been seen that most of the old vehicles are designed according to E5 or E10 blend. Due to which many users are now complaining about engine overheating, vibration, rough idling and difficulty in starting. In the survey conducted for this, 29% people admitted that abnormal wear and tear to the engine, fuel line, tank or carburetor has been observed in their vehicle.
Expenses increased due to reduced mileage
LocalCircles reports that official estimates show mileage from E20 petrol falling by 1% to 6% but many vehicle owners claim that the actual loss is much higher. This includes the average number of vehicles falling rapidly, especially in traffic and congested cities. The report also claims that for middle-class families who are already facing rising costs of living. Even a slight drop in mileage means a marked increase in monthly fuel expenses. Due to which this change can directly affect the pocket. Because now in most of the places E20 is being used as default petrol.
There may be a long-term impact on old vehicles
Auto experts, after seeing this survey, say that ethanol absorbs moisture quickly and its chemical nature is different from traditional petrol. Which can affect the rubber parts, seals, gaskets and fuel lines of old vehicles. It was also seen on social media that many people have complained in which the problem of engine overheating during summer has been shown. After which lakhs of vehicle owners are now worried about whether the cost of maintenance and repair will increase further in the coming time.
