VinFast wins in the festive season

VinFast has overtaken Tesla during the festive season last year as well. According to a report by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA), VinFast took the lead in September and October 2025. Initially VinFast started with only 6 cars which reached 131 in October. Tesla sold 69 cars in September and 109 cars in October.

Local Manufacturing Game Changer

Experts say that the exact strategy of the Indian market is the reason behind this huge sales of VinFast. According to experts, VinFast had set up its own manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu as soon as it came to India. Due to which the company got a big exemption from heavy import duty.

Also, VinFast has launched VF6 at 17.29 Lakhs, VF7 at 21.89 Lakhs and VF MPV 7 at budget friendly prices considering the budget of Indian customers. On the other hand, Tesla focused only on Indian imports. Tesla’s popular Model Y’ was launched in India at around 60 lakhs. Which was out of Indian budget.

Just ‘brand name’ is not enough in Indian market

Currently in the Indian market, there is a demand in the EV market for segments of Rs 15 to 20 lakh. VinFast has strengthened its grip on this segment. According to experts, Indian markets only have brands and do not operate. Indian consumer is always looking for value for money. This was ignored by Tesla and came on the back foot. Moreover, Tesla has 5 superchargers in India, which is considered a major infrastructure failure. Due to this, VinFast has won the Indian market.
