Unnao, 26 May. A major accident took place in the early hours of Tuesday on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh. A bus full of passengers going from Delhi to Bihar went out of control and overturned. Six people died in the accident while more than 15 passengers are said to be injured. This accident happened at kilometer number 262 of Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Auras police station area. It is being told that there were more than 30 passengers in the bus. As soon as the bus overturned, there was screaming among the passengers. Many passengers fell off the expressway, suffering serious injuries.

According to the police, a sub-inspector and a prisoner were also among those who died in the accident. The deceased inspector has been identified as Ramchandra, who was a resident of Siwan district of Bihar. It is being told that he had gone to Delhi with prisoner Chhatrapal and was returning from there. As soon as information about the accident was received, UPDA and police teams reached the spot and started relief and rescue operations. The injured were immediately taken to the nearest hospital. The seriously injured passengers were later referred to Lucknow Trauma Center while some are being treated in the district hospital.

At present the police is investigating the cause of the accident. Initial suspicion is that this accident occurred due to the driver losing control of the bus. UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took immediate cognizance of the horrific road accident that took place on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway in Unnao. Expressing deep sorrow over the death of six people in the accident, the Chief Minister has expressed condolences to the bereaved families. He has instructed the officials to immediately reach the spot and speed up the relief and rescue operations. Besides, the administration has also been instructed to provide the best treatment to the injured and give appropriate compensation to the families of the deceased.
