Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are reportedly ready to meet Atletico Madrid’s valuation for Julian Alvarez (26), a move that could give the French champions an upper hand in the pursuit of the Argentine striker, according to a report from The Independent.
Goncalo Ramos might be on his way out of PSG during the upcoming summer transfer window. The Portuguese forward’s playing style has often appeared incompatible with that preferred by manager Luis Enrique. Consequently, Ramos has found himself on the fringes in major fixtures and has once again played a limited role this season. Despite his reduced involvement, there remains notable interest in signing him.
In light of Ramos possibly departing, PSG have turned their attention towards Julian Alvarez. The Parisian club have reportedly signalled to Atletico Madrid that they are prepared to pay the Spanish side’s €125 million asking price. The current European champions have also engaged in discussions with the player’s representatives. However, Atletico Madrid are expected to maintain their firm stance on the valuation.
The Independent further reports that Alvarez personally prefers a switch to Barcelona, but the Catalan giants are financially unable to meet Atletico’s price tag. Arsenal are also keen on the Argentine international and possess the means to pay the required amount. Nonetheless, the North London club are carefully evaluating how best to allocate their transfer budget. The Gunners are simultaneously in talks to secure a deal for Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers.
