In fact, according to the latest forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Dehradun, there are chances of thunder, lightning, hail and high speed winds in different parts of the state for the next few days. ‘Orange alert’ will remain in these 5 districts on May 28
According to the Meteorological Department, the change is going to start from May 28. The department has issued ‘Orange Alert’ in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts for tomorrow. At some places in these hilly districts, there may be lightning and hailstorm as well as strong gusty winds at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour, whose speed can even increase up to 60 kilometers per hour. The good thing is that its impact will not be limited to these districts only, but light showers along with thunderstorms and lightning are expected in the rest of the state as well.
Heavy rain warning on May 29, 7 districts including Dehradun on alert
The real nature of the weather can be seen on May 29. According to meteorologists, the scope of Orange Alert will increase further under Uttarakhand weather update on this day. On May 29, there is a possibility of strong thunderstorm and hailstorm in Uttarkashi, Dehradun, Tehri, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh. The most important thing to note is that there is an alert of heavy rain at some places in Uttarkashi, Dehradun, Tehri, Rudraprayag and Chamoli. In such a situation, people living in these areas will need to take special precautions. After this, the weather will calm down a bit on 30th and 31st May, but the crisis will not be averted, because ‘Yellow Alert’ has been issued for these two days.
Disaster Management Department ready, Secretary made this special appeal
In view of this changing pattern of weather in the mountains, the government and administration have come on alert mode. The State Emergency Operation Center has instructed all the concerned District Magistrates and departments to disaster management to remain alert round the clock. Officials have been asked to keep all necessary resources ready for prompt action to deal with any emergency.
Meanwhile, Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman has made a very important appeal to the citizens of the state and the tourists coming from outside. He has said that people should avoid unnecessary travel during bad weather. When strong winds are blowing or there is lightning, never take shelter under trees, electric poles and weak buildings. Stay in safe places and follow the weather guidelines issued from time to time by the administration.
