Goa was once considered the most favorite destination of foreign tourists, but now the situation seems to be changing. Due to rising inflation, visa problems, overcrowding and in search of better facilities, a large number of tourists are now turning to countries like Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Thailand.

According to people associated with the tourism sector, the rising prices of hotels, taxis and food in Goa are affecting foreign tourists. Many tourists believe that now Goa has become more expensive than before, while on the other hand, better facilities are available in South-East Asian countries at less cost.

Experts say that Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam have done a lot of work on tourism infrastructure in the last few years. Things like cheap hotels, easy travel facilities, clean beaches and better nightlife are attracting tourists there.

Increasing congestion and traffic is also becoming a big problem in Goa. Due to overcrowding on beaches and major tourist destinations during peak season, many tourists are choosing other countries in search of quieter and more relaxing destinations.

Travel industry experts say that visa policies and international connectivity are also having a big impact. Many countries have provided easy visas and attractive tour packages for tourists, which has increased their attraction.

However, Goa still remains popular among Indian and foreign tourists. The beaches, music, party culture and Portuguese heritage still attract people here. But due to increasing competition, Goa’s tourism industry is facing new challenges.

Experts believe that if Goa has to be made the first choice of foreign tourists again, then attention will have to be paid to infrastructure, cleanliness, traffic management and prices. Also, new schemes are needed to provide better experience to the tourists.

Currently, amidst the changing travel trends, Goa is facing tough competition from South-East Asian countries and this is becoming a matter of concern for the tourism industry.
