J&K:A major accident was averted on Monday (May 25) at Gulmarg Gondola, a famous tourist destination in Jammu and Kashmir. Actually, there was a sudden technical fault in the Gondola Cable Car (Ropeway) service, due to which about 300 tourists got trapped in the cable car compartments in the air. After the incident, there was chaos on the spot and an atmosphere of fear was created among the tourists. Many people remained stuck at high altitude for a long time, due to which panic increased among women and children. Many videos and pictures of this incident have also surfaced.

Army and administration started rescue operation

As soon as information about the incident was received, a joint team of 9 Raj Rifles of the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and Civil Administration reached the spot. The rescue team immediately started the rescue operation and the work of bringing down the stranded tourists was started safely. The SDM and Tehsildar of Tangmarg are also monitoring the relief work.

Officials said that as soon as the technical problem came to light, the Gondola service was immediately stopped as a precautionary measure. After this, a rescue operation was conducted giving priority to the safety of all the passengers. The administration says that necessary arrangements have been made to evacuate all the tourists safely.

Panic seen among women and children

According to eyewitnesses, people got scared when the Gondola suddenly stopped. Many tourists were seen calling for help. Fear was clearly visible especially among children and women. However, the rescue teams present on the spot appealed to the people to remain calm and gradually continued the work of evacuating everyone safely.

Technical team engaged in investigating the fault

After the incident, a team of technical experts was also called to the spot. The team is investigating the reasons for the malfunction in the Gondola service. Besides, the process of restarting the service has also been started. Officials have said that the Gondola service will be restarted only after thorough investigation of safety standards.
