Punjab Local Body Elections 2026 : In Punjab local body elections, voting is going on from morning today in eight Municipal Corporations, 76 Municipal Councils and 21 Nagar Panchayats of the state. Voters are reaching the polling booth to exercise their franchise. Meanwhile, a unique sight was seen at Sri Muktsar Sahib, where Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Waring along with his wife came out to cast their vote on a bullock cart.

Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Waring and his wife went by bullock cart to cast their votes in the local body elections. Amarinder Singh Raja Waring cast his vote at booth number 14 of ward number 5 of Sri Muktsar Sahib. Going to vote by bullock cart is being seen as a protest against the rising prices of petrol and diesel. Meanwhile, after exercising his franchise, Amarinder Singh Raja Waring said, “We will definitely get Muktsar back. Congress made mistakes; we did not handle things the way they should have been handled.”
He further said, “Congress workers are putting up a very strong fight against other parties. People have made up their mind for change, and Congress is getting support in the municipal elections. The AAP MLA from Muktsar may not get a ticket next time.”
