Bhopal. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has intensified action as soon as it took command in the case of suspicious death of actress and model Twisha Sharma. Taking over the case registered at Katara Hills police station, CBI has registered an FIR against the deceased’s husband Samarth Singh and mother-in-law (retired judge) Giribala Singh under the sections of ‘dowry death’. Intensive interrogation of the accused and inspection of the crime scene has been started from Monday night itself.

Demand of ₹20 lakh and interrogation for two and a half hours
Based on the initial investigation of the local police, CBI has registered this FIR, in which it has come to light that an additional demand of ₹ 20 lakh was being made from Twisha and her family by the in-laws.

Late Monday evening, CBI’s SIT team reached the house of accused Samarth Singh in Bagmugalia Extension.

There Samarth and his mother Giribala Singh were rigorously interrogated for about two and a half hours and physical verification (spot verification) of the incident site was done. Even on Tuesday morning, the team remained present at his residence for investigation.

Delay in reporting death: Was evidence destroyed?
The biggest question in this matter is regarding the delay in information.

Twisha had allegedly hanged herself on the night of May 12, but AIIMS Hospital gave a written notice to the police the next day at 5:00 am on May 13.

Twisha’s family members allege that her husband and mother-in-law are well aware of the legal tricks. Samarth had returned home after the death was confirmed in the hospital and the family members suspect that this delay in information was taken advantage of to tamper with the crime scene and destroy evidence. CBI will now also interrogate the doctor who first noted the case.

Important hearing in court today on call detail (CDR) and CCTV
An important hearing is to be held in the court today regarding safeguarding of evidence.

Ankur Pandey, lawyer for Twisha’s family, has applied in the court to preserve the call detail records (CDR) of all the people concerned.

At the same time, in defence, the accused mother-in-law Giribala Singh has also filed an application to keep the CCTV footage of the house safe. After the presentation of the police report on Tuesday, the court can issue important instructions on this.

‘Gymnastics belt’ sent for forensic investigation
In this case, Bhopal DCP Vikas Kumar Shahwal has clarified the situation regarding the ‘gymnastic elastic belt’ with which the noose is being claimed. He told that in order to collect scientific evidence, the police has sent this belt to the State Forensic Science Lab (FSL) located in Sagar 7 days ago, so that the real cause of death can be found.
