The Government of India has approved the empanelment of 68 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers for appointment to the post of Inspector General or equivalent at the Centre.
The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions issued a confidential Office Memorandum dated May 25, 2026, from Kartavya Bhawan, New Delhi. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) cleared the names following assessment of suitability under the Department of Personnel and Training’s review process.
The empanelled officers belong to various cadres, including Odisha, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, AGMUT, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, and others. The list includes senior officers such as Soorya Thankappan (Odisha, 2001 batch) and Sarthak Sarangi (Odisha, 2007).
