Jadon Sancho is reportedly keen to remain with Aston Villa as his loan spell approaches its conclusion next month.

According to a report by SportsBoom, Aston Villa have started exploring the possibility of securing a permanent transfer for the Manchester United winger, who has been out of favour at Old Trafford.

Sancho’s situation appears to be working in Villa’s favour. His current contract with Manchester United expires at the end of June, which means the club can pursue the move without having to pay a hefty transfer fee similar to the £73 million United paid to sign him in 2021.

Although Sancho has not been a guaranteed starter under Unai Emery, he has expressed his enjoyment of life at Villa Park. His time there concluded on a high note last week, as Aston Villa lifted the Europa League trophy before defeating his former side Manchester City 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium in Pep Guardiola’s final match in charge.

Villa finished fourth in the Premier League, six points behind Manchester United. However, their Europa League triumph ensures that they will be back in the UEFA Champions League next season.

SportsBoom further notes that Bournemouth, Brentford, and Crystal Palace have also shown interest in Sancho and are keeping a close watch on how Aston Villa proceed with the player’s situation.

The 26-year-old winger registered one goal and three assists across 39 appearances this season, starting only 18 of those matches. In total, he accumulated 1,672 minutes of playing time and missed five games due to injury or illness.

Manchester United, meanwhile, are expected to be disappointed that they will not financially benefit from Sancho’s potential permanent move. Nonetheless, they may find relief in finally removing his £250,000-per-week wages from their payroll.
