On the auspicious occasion of Ganga Dashami, ‘Vande Ganga Water Conservation Public Campaign’ was formally launched with the main district level program at Lakhuwali Head, Rawatsar in Hanumangarh district on Monday. In this program organized with the aim of water conservation, environmental promotion and increasing greenery, the campaign was started by worshiping water and planting trees. This special campaign will be conducted through various activities across the district till June 5 World Environment Day.
A large number of public representatives, officers, villagers and women were present in the program. Everyone took a collective pledge to conserve water and save the environment.
On this occasion, Chairman of Shriyade Mati Kala Board Shri Prahlad Rai Tak praised Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma and called him “Bhagiratha” of the modern era. He said that a budget of Rs 3200 crore has been provided by the Chief Minister for the renovation of canals and ditches, which is a historic step towards water conservation in Rajasthan.
He said that water is the most precious resource of nature and even modern technology cannot create water. Therefore, it is the duty of every citizen to consider water conservation as their responsibility and take a pledge to save water for the coming generations.
In the program, District Incharge Secretary Dr. Joga Ram laid special emphasis on “Hariyalo Rajasthan” campaign and said that merely planting trees is not enough, but taking care of them is equally important. He said that this campaign should not remain just a government programme, but should move forward as a people’s movement.
He informed that till now more than 40 thousand people have registered their participation under the “Karmabhoomi to Matribhoomi” campaign across the state. Besides, repair work of more than 1 lakh 10 thousand drinking water jugs is being done every year in the state, which will strengthen water conservation in rural areas.
District Collector Dr. Khushal Yadav administered the oath of water conservation and environmental protection to the people present. He said that serious efforts will be made towards increasing the groundwater level through rain water harvesting, water harvesting systems and conservation of traditional water sources.
Giving the message of “Plant Trees – Save Life”, he appealed to the people to plant as many trees as possible and protect them. He said that if society and administration work together, then problems like water crisis can be effectively controlled.
Various messages to water conservation and environmental protection were spread during the program. Villagers and women also took a pledge to save water by enthusiastically participating in the campaign.
On this occasion, Chief Engineer of Water Resources Department Mr. Pradeep Rustagi, Public Representative Mr. Amit Sahu, former MLA Mr. Dharmendra Mochi, Mr. Balveer Bishnoi, Mrs. Gulab Sinwar, Zilla Parishad CEO Mr. OP Bishnoi and officials of various departments were present. The program was conducted by Shri Bhishma Kaushik.
After the program, Shriyade Mati Kala Board President Shri Prahlad Rai Tak held a press conference and gave detailed information on the importance of the campaign. He said that water conservation is not only the responsibility of the government but is the responsibility of every person in the society.
Through ‘Vande Ganga Water Conservation Public Campaign’, programs to conservation of water sources, rain water harvesting, plantation and environmental awareness will be organized across the district. The aim of the administration is to make water conservation a people’s movement by involving more and more people in this campaign.
