Tottenham Hotspur are accelerating their transfer activity after narrowly avoiding relegation from the Premier League.
As per reports from Matteo Moretto, Spurs have “verbally agreed” a four-year deal with Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi.
The 29-year-old Argentine is set to be among Tottenham’s earliest signings of the upcoming summer window.
While Tottenham had been the favourites to land Senesi, the move hinged on whether they could maintain their Premier League status.
Following a tense 1-0 victory over Everton in their final match of the season, the North London club are now in a position to finalise the signing after holding off competition from Liverpool.
Senesi will join as a free agent after his contract with Bournemouth expires this summer.
The Argentine central defender departs the South Coast club following an impressive stint that saw him play a major role in Bournemouth’s rise as a strong Premier League side.
Since joining from Feyenoord in 2022, Senesi has made over 100 appearances for the Cherries, earning praise for his solid defending and composure on the ball.
He was instrumental in helping Bournemouth qualify for the Europa League this season, missing just one league match and contributing five assists along the way.
Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi has reportedly approved the move as part of the club’s broader summer rebuild plans.
Strengthening the defence is a major focus for Spurs, especially since only the relegated sides conceded more goals than them during the campaign.
In addition to Senesi, Tottenham are also close to finalising a deal for Andrew Robertson, who recently left Liverpool.
Sources indicate that a verbal agreement was already in place before Spurs confirmed their Premier League survival.
Robertson exits Liverpool after nine trophy-laden years at Anfield, having won major titles such as the Premier League and the Champions League.
The seasoned Scotland international is expected to bring leadership, experience, and healthy competition to the left side of Tottenham’s defence as the club aims to rebuild and avoid another relegation battle next season.
