Redmi Note 15 5G: New prices of both variants

According to reports coming from the tech market, after this change, customers will now have to loosen their wallets more. The price of 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant of the device was earlier Rs 24,999, which has now increased to Rs 26,999. At the same time, the premium 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant of the phone will now be available for Rs 29,999 instead of Rs 27,999. There has been an equal increase of Rs 2,000 in the prices of both the variants.

Why are smartphones becoming expensive? Know the inner reason

Redmi is not the only brand to increase prices in the Indian mobile market. Currently, almost every major brand selling phones in India is either increasing the prices of their handsets or silently cutting the specifications of the phones (like camera sensor or display quality) to maintain the old price.

The biggest reason for this all-round price increase is the huge shortage of RAM (Random Access Memory) in the global market. The expansion of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has led to a rapid increase in demand for memory chips from large AI data centers around the world. Chip manufacturing companies are giving priority to making high-margin memory for data centers instead of mobiles, due to which the cost of memory used in smartphones is continuously increasing.

Impact on common consumers and the way forward

This increase will have a direct impact on those customers who were looking for a new 5G phone in the budget of Rs 25,000 during the festive season or on normal days. Now the mid-range segment is slowly shifting towards premium price points. In the coming days, other brands (like Realme, Vivo and Oppo) may also increase the prices of their existing models or offer newly launched phones at a higher price. Budget buyers are being advised to make use of bank discounts and exchange offers to mitigate the impact of this increased price.
