FC Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund may soon find themselves facing another major European competitor in their efforts to sign one of Germany’s brightest young prospects.

According to reports from Sky, Premier League giants Liverpool FC have officially entered the race to acquire Hertha BSC’s highly rated young midfielder Kennet Eichhorn.

It is understood that Liverpool’s interest in Eichhorn has already reached an advanced stage, with substantial discussions having taken place between the club and the player’s representatives.

The 16-year-old, widely regarded as one of Europe’s most promising young midfielders, has been attracting sustained attention from Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and Bayer Leverkusen. Eichhorn made his second-division debut for Hertha BSC in August 2025, shortly after celebrating his 16th birthday.

His contract with the Berlin-based club reportedly includes a release clause valued between €10 million and €12 million. Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl confirmed their interest to Bild, stating, “If we weren’t keeping tabs on Kenny Eichhorn, we wouldn’t be doing our job.”

In addition to Liverpool, Manchester City are also said to be closely monitoring the young midfielder’s progress. The Premier League champions have reportedly made contact regarding a potential move. Should City complete the signing, the club plans to loan Eichhorn out immediately, with Bayer Leverkusen being considered a likely destination.

Eichhorn began the season as a regular starter for Hertha BSC before suffering an ankle injury in January that sidelined him for around two and a half months. He returned to the lineup towards the end of the campaign, reinforcing his importance to the team. The Germany Under-21 international has so far made 17 appearances in the 2. Bundesliga and scored his first goal in a 2-1 victory over Greuther Fürth on Matchday 33.
