Shopping in Lajpat Nagar market of Delhi has always been a tiring experience. Walking for hours on crowded roads, bargaining, carrying heavy bags and walking for miles is no less than a challenge. Now, with the aim of ending this problem forever, a new Delhi-based startup 'CarryMen' has introduced a unique service. This startup is providing a 'shopping assistant' at a charge of just Rs 149 per hour. This business initiative has emerged as a lifesaver for those tired husbands, mothers and common shoppers who get troubled by carrying heavy luggage every time they go to the market.
Shopping fun without the burden
. The tagline of this business model is very clear – “You do the shopping, we will be responsible for picking up the goods.” This service has been designed keeping in mind those customers who spend hours in crowded markets. Often due to heavy bags, the fatigue of customers increases so much that they decide to return early, due to which shopkeepers also suffer losses. With this new service, customers' hands will now be completely free. They can move around comfortably, choose their favorite products, and enjoy shopping without any physical discomfort.
How does this service work?
CarryMan has kept the fare of this service very affordable keeping in mind the general public. Customers can book a trained assistant for Rs 149 per hour. For the convenience of customers, different packages of 2, 3 or 4 hours have also been made available. This assistant walks with the customer throughout the market. Its job is not only to lift shopping bags, but it also helps in finding the right way to the shops, standing in long queues at eating places, parking or taking customers safely to the metro station. Even if the customer gets tired, this assistant also works to find a place for them to sit comfortably. However, as per company policy, an assistant can lift a maximum weight of only 12 kg. If the luggage exceeds this, customers will have to hire an additional attendant.
How did this unique startup begin?
Both the founders who started this startup are local residents of Delhi. Since childhood he had visited these crowded markets with his families. He realized closely that physical fatigue caused by long walks, huge crowds at food stalls, heavy bags in hands often takes away the entire joy of shopping. By transforming this daily problem into a wonderful business opportunity, he laid the foundation of this startup.
In which markets this facility is available?
Carryman officially started its operations in the month of April this year. In the very first month of its launch, this startup has successfully completed more than 50 bookings. The interesting business aspect is that the company has not resorted to any expensive advertising or influencer marketing campaign to promote this service. Instead, the concept is spreading rapidly through word-of-mouth and organic social media discussions. At present this service is operating only in Lajpat Nagar market. But seeing the increasing demand and positive responses of the customers, the company is soon working on plans to expand its business in other major markets like Chandni Chowk.
