43 drivers participated in road safety training

Supaul, 23 May. A one-day special training program on road safety and traffic rules was organized by the District Transport Office, Supaul on Friday. A total of 43 drivers participated in the program, which included 42 private and 01 government vehicle drivers.

This training was organized on the instructions of Bihar Road Safety Council and Transport Department, Government of Bihar. The objective of the program was to reduce road accidents, promote safe driving behavior and ensure safety of common citizens especially pedestrians.

During the training, drivers were given information about identification of traffic signs, safe driving, adherence to speed limit, use of seat belt and helmet, ill effects of mobile phones while driving, dangers of overspeeding and safe driving in bad weather and night.

Apart from this, information was also given on “Right of Way”, priority to pedestrians, caution in school areas, responsibilities of a driver after a road accident, “Good Samaritan” provision, first aid and procedures to be followed after an accident.

The usefulness of modern vehicle technologies like ABS, ADAS, GPS, VLTD and SLD was also discussed in detail in the training program. Booklets and awareness materials to road safety were distributed among the participants.

At the end of the program, certificates were given to all the participants. District Transport Officer said that the state government will send an incentive amount of ₹ 200 to the drivers receiving training through DBT/NEFT in their bank accounts.

He said that road safety is not only an administrative responsibility but also a social responsibility. Aware and trained drivers can play an important role in reducing road accidents. The District Transport Office said that such training programs will be organized regularly in future also.
