Varun Dhawan is returning to the romantic-comedy space once again with Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, and even before the film reaches cinemas, conversations around its OTT release have already started. The movie, which also stars Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde, is set to release in theatres on June 5, 2026. Directed by David Dhawan, the film marks another collaboration between the filmmaker and his son Varun after commercial entertainers like Judwaa 2, Main Tera Hero and Coolie No. 1.

The change reportedly happened after Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups was postponed.
Confirming the revised release date on Instagram, Varun Dhawan wrote, “JUNE 5th 2026 in theatres. Thankful to thenameisyash and maddockfilms for helping us reset the calendar as our film hai jawani toh ishq hona hai will now release on its original date.”
He further added that the movie would become the first theatrical release after the IPL season concludes.
Reports also suggest the movie has been made on a budget of nearly Rs 40 crore, though the makers have not officially confirmed the figure yet.
The recently released trailer has already given audiences a look at the film’s chaotic love triangle setup mixed with comedy, confusion and family drama. Varun’s comic timing, which has often worked well for him in films from this genre, appears to be one of the major highlights once again.
The music for the film has been composed by Tanishk Bagchi, Javed-Mohsin, Akshay & IP, along with Rony Ajnali and Gill Machhrai, while the project has been produced by Ramesh Taurani.
