Nissan Tekton: Nissan’s new midsize SUV will be launched on this day, direct competition with Creta and Seltos.
New tecton is based on RGMP platform
This upcoming SUV from Nissan is very special because it is built on Renault-Nissan’s Highly Localized Modular Platform RGMP (CMF-B). Let us tell you that this is the same platform on which the upcoming new Renault Duster has also been developed. Due to production in India, the company will be successful in keeping its price competitive. According to market analysts, the starting ex-showroom price of Nissan Tekton in the Indian market can be kept around Rs 10.50 lakh.
Patrol inspired design and premium features
In terms of design, the new Nissan Tecton will be inspired by the company’s globally popular flagship SUV ‘Nissan Patrol’. Its stance will be quite muscular and boxy. Talking about the front look, it will have a wide grille, signature V-motion design and attractive C-shaped connected LED light bars that will extend to both ends of the car. The rear profile will also get ‘Tekton’ written in bold letters on the tailgate along with a full-width LED tail-light bar.
Talking about interior and cabin features, full attention has been paid to modernity in it. Customers can get the following features in the new Tecton:
- Large 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with support for wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
- 10.25-inch digital driver display (instrument cluster) with full map replication.
- Ventilated front seats and panoramic sunroof for summer.
- In terms of safety, there are 6 airbags (standard), 360-degree camera and level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) technology.
Powerful turbo engine and hybrid option
On the mechanical front, Nissan Tecton will be launched in the market with two turbocharged petrol engine options. Its first base engine will be a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo petrol which will generate around 100 PS of power. At the same time, to make the customers feel more power, it will also have the option of 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine, which will be capable of delivering maximum power of 156 PS and torque of 250 Nm. It will have options of 6-speed manual, CVT and DCT automatic gearbox. Additionally, the company may also introduce its 1.8-litre strong hybrid variant by the end of this year or early next year.
Impact on Indian customers and future plans
With this new launch, customers planning to buy a midsize SUV will get a new and premium option. Nissan India is not going to stop here. According to the company’s roadmap, just six months after the launch of Tecton, i.e. in the first quarter of 2027, a 7-seater SUV based on the same platform will also be launched. Apart from this, the company is also preparing to bring its premium full-size luxury SUV Nissan Patrol to India through the CBU route.
