Jabalpur: Samarth Singh, the absconding husband of Twisha Sharma who was allegedly harassed for dowry and died last week in Bhopal, reached the Jabalpur district court on Friday evening to surrender, his lawyer said. He was later taken to police custody. His father also reached the Jabalpur court.
He surrendered before the court, hours after withdrawing his anticipatory bail application, which was filed in the Madhya Pradesh High Court. Speaking to PTI, his lawyer Mrigendra Singh, said that Samarth Singh reached the court to surrender.

With the withdrawal of the application, Singh was left with no other option but to surrender.

The bail plea was filed before the high court on Thursday after a subordinate court rejected his plea last week. Singh’s mother Giribala Singh, a retired district court judge was granted anticipatory bail by a Bhopal court last week. Her name has also been added in the FIR registered in the case. The police has registered an FIR under Sections 80(2), 85 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita along with relevant provisions of the Dowry Prohibition Act against Samarth Singh and his mother in the case.
Madhya Pradesh HC orders second autopsyEarlier in the day, the Madhya Pradesh High Court ordered a second autopsy of the body AIIMS Delhi team. During the hearing, a single-bench of the High Court asked the state government to arrange for a specialised team of doctors from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, to Bhopal for the second autopsy.
Twisha Sharma, a 33-year-old married woman from Noida, was found hanging at her marital home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on May 12. Even as her in-laws claimed she suffered with drug addiction, her family alleged that she was harassed for dowry which led to her death.
