Karaili/Prayagraj. Karaili Police, taking major action as part of the campaign against crime and illegal weapons, has arrested an accused. Police have recovered an illegal pistol, cartridges and Rs 8,000 in cash from his possession.
According to the police, the accused was being searched in the case number 85/2026 registered in Karaili police station area to sections 331(4), 305A, 317(2), 62(2)(A) BNS and 3/25 Arms Act. On receiving information from the informer, the police team laid siege to Barkhandi turn near Karenhada on Friday, May 23, 2026 and arrested the accused.
The arrested accused has been identified as Shahzad alias Kariya, son of Azad, resident of Seelna police station, Airport district, Prayagraj. The age of the accused is said to be around 19 years.
During the search, the police recovered an illegal country-made pistol .315 bore, one live cartridge .315 bore and Rs 8,000 in cash from his possession. After the recovery, the police have taken the accused into custody and started necessary legal action.
Police officials say that a continuous campaign is being conducted against criminals and those possessing illegal weapons in the area. By interrogating the arrested accused, information about his criminal network and other activities is also being collected.
