The National Health Mission (NHM) has warned that the common mistake of drinking water immediately after returning from the sun can lead to serious health problems. Many people make the mistake of drinking cold water or ice water as soon as they come home from outside in summer.
According to NHM, this habit can prove dangerous for the body. When the body becomes excessively hot, drinking cold water suddenly changes the body temperature, which can have a bad effect on the digestive system, throat and other body parts. In such a situation, it is important to pay attention to the correct ways of drinking water after returning from the sun.
During the summer season, there is continuous loss of water from the body. Drinking water properly prevents dehydration, heat stroke and other heat diseases. Experts say that it is important to drink adequate amount of water throughout the day, but at the right time and manner.
Do not drink water immediately :- After coming from outside, rest the body for at least 10-15 minutes. Let the body temperature return to normal by sitting in the shade.
Do not drink very cold or ice water:- Such water can cause problems like sore throat, stomach ache or cold.
Drink water in small sips:- Instead of drinking the entire glass at once, sip slowly.
Drink normal temperature water:- If possible, it is better to use normal water kept in the pitcher.
Let the body become normal :- First let the sweat dry and breathing become normal, then drink water.
Along with this, also take other precautions like keeping a water bottle with you while going out. Fruit juice or coconut water also gives coolness and energy to the body. Take special care of children and the elderly, because they get dehydrated quickly.
