Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl has officially acknowledged that the German champions are closely following the progress of Hertha Berlin wonderkid Kennet Eichhorn. The 16-year-old midfielder has rapidly become one of the most in-demand young talents in European football after a breakthrough campaign in Germany’s capital.

Bayern enter the chase for Hertha prodigy

The competition for Eichhorn’s signature is intensifying, and Bayern Munich have no plans to sit on the sidelines. Speaking to Bild ahead of Bayern’s DFB-Pokal final against Stuttgart – a match they won 3-0 – Eberl revealed that the club has been actively monitoring the youngster, who has already become a regular fixture in the 2. Bundesliga.

“I think if you see Kenny Eichhorn – and FC Bayern wouldn’t deal with that – then we wouldn’t be doing our job,” said Eberl. Despite being only 16, Eichhorn made 17 appearances for Hertha this season, cementing his place in the starting lineup and drawing interest from top European clubs such as Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund.

Future outlook for Eichhorn

While Bayern’s interest is genuine, Eberl was cautious about suggesting that a deal is imminent. The young midfielder is expected to move on from Berlin this summer, but his next destination remains uncertain, with several top clubs preparing offers to convince him and his representatives.

Eberl further stated: “Now you have to see if that fits in and what the ideas are for him and his management. Whether that happens then is something else entirely.”

Anthony Gordon also on Bayern’s radar

Eichhorn is not the only player being discussed within Bayern’s transfer committee. Eberl also hinted at potential interest in Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon, who has been one of the standout performers in the Premier League and played alongside German international Nick Woltemade at St James’ Park.

The Bayern director confirmed that reinforcing the attacking line is a major goal for the upcoming transfer window. “We agree that we will bring in an attacking player if he can be financed,” Eberl explained, indicating that the club is willing to invest significantly if the right opportunity arises at the right price.

Bayern’s domestic double turns focus to European glory

Under the stewardship of Vincent Kompany, Bayern Munich dominated German football this season, capturing both the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal titles. With their domestic double secured, focus now shifts to the summer transfer window, where the Bavarian powerhouse aims to strengthen its squad in pursuit of the UEFA Champions League crown — a trophy they last lifted in 2020. Their most recent European campaign ended in heartbreak, as they were eliminated in the semi-finals by Paris Saint-Germain.
