Cockroach Janata Party: ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ storm on social media; How did CJP, which started as a joke, become the voice of millions of youth?
A growing response from youth across the country within hours
During a hearing on a case, Chief Justice Suryakant had referred to some unemployed youths as ‘cockroaches’ (cockroaches) and ‘parasites’ while talking about people doing business using fake titles. His statement started a lot of discussion on social media.
Issues such as the NEET paper leak case, unemployment and rising inflation are already fueling anger among the country’s youth. After this statement of the Chief Justice, the Cockroach Janata Party campaign started on social media. What’s special is that already disgruntled youths have responded strongly to this campaign on social media. Through Facebook Instagram reels, memes and other ironic posts, the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ has created a distinct identity within hours.
Regarding all this series of events, the founder of Cockroach Janata Party, Abhijit Deepke, in an interview given to the news channel Ek ABP Maja, has presented his position on this campaign.
When asked how he came up with the idea of Cockroach Janata Party, he said, “It was not an idea, it was anger against the system. Cockroach Janata Party was not a premeditated campaign in any way. It was a strong anger against the system. It was only when one of the highest officials of the country spoke about the citizens raising their voices against the system that anger was unleashed.

“This was not expected from the defenders of the Constitution”
Explaining the role behind the formation of ‘Cockroach Janata Party’, Abhijit Deepke reacted strongly on the issue of judiciary and freedom of expression. He said, “The Chief Justice is the protector of the Constitution and the fundamental rights of the citizens. The Constitution has given everyone the right to freedom of expression. In such a situation, calling the general public and the youth ‘cockroaches’ or ‘parasites’ is a very serious matter. The language used about the youth who raised their voices against the system created a feeling of anger among many youths and this digital movement arose.” He also said that.
…and revolutionized social media!”
Abhijeet Deepke raised the question in a post on social media platform X. “If the youth who raise their voices against the system are considered ‘cockroaches’, what will happen if all these ‘cockroaches’ come together?” After this post, the concept of ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ went viral on social media. Within days, thousands of youths supported the campaign and it became a huge digital movement.
20 year ban on defectors?
The CJP’s manifesto has taken a tough stance on political defection. It has been proposed to ban MLAs or MPs who switch from one party to another from contesting elections and holding any public office for 20 years.

Taking a stand on the issue of media freedom, the manifesto demanded cancellation of licenses of media houses owned by the Ambani and Adani groups and also demanded an inquiry into the financial dealings of the so-called ‘Godi Media’ anchors.
Key points in the manifesto
No Chief Justice should be given Rajya Sabha or political post after retirement
