Bakrid 2026: Kejriwal government has taken a big decision regarding the festival of Bakrid in Delhi. Delhi Development Minister Kapil Mishra has issued strict instructions to strictly follow the laws to animal welfare during the festival. The government has made it clear that any kind of illegal activity or violation of rules in the name of the festival will not be tolerated. The Development Minister has ordered the police and departments to keep special vigil across Delhi so that law and order is maintained and rules are followed.
Complete ban on sacrifice of banned animals
Development Minister Kapil Mishra has issued a detailed instruction in this regard. It clearly lists those animals whose sacrifice is completely banned. According to the government order, sacrifice of cattle, cow, calf and camel is completely illegal in Delhi. If any person is found sacrificing or transporting these prohibited animals, a criminal case will be registered against him immediately. The government has clarified that under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, the culprits in such cases may have to go to jail.
Markets and sacrifices not allowed in public places
The government has also made it clear that illegal trading of animals cannot be done on the roads, streets, parks or any public place of Delhi. Along with this, there will be a complete ban on offering sacrifices in these public places. Kapil Mishra said that sacrifice can be made only at valid and identified places decided by the government. The police will immediately take strict action against those who try to do all this on the streets or in the open. Action will also be taken against those setting up markets illegally.
Action on spreading filth and shedding blood in sewer
Strict rules have also been made to maintain cleanliness during the festival. The Development Minister has said that those who throw the remains or garbage left after the sacrifice in the roads and drains will not be spared. Apart from this, there has also been a complete ban on dumping of waste and blood in sewer lines. By doing this, the cleanliness system of Delhi gets affected and there is a fear of spread of diseases. MCD and agencies have been instructed to keep a special watch on waste management and impose heavy fines on those violating the rules.
Appeal to the public and special instructions to the police
Kapil Mishra has also appealed to the people of Delhi for cooperation in maintaining this system. He has said that if any citizen sees these rules or guidelines being violated around him, he should immediately inform the local police. As soon as information is received, legal action will be taken immediately against the accused. All district officers and police captains have been instructed to increase patrolling in their respective areas and keep a close watch on sensitive areas so that the festival can be completed with brotherhood.
