Karuppu box office Day 8: Suriya film enters 2nd week with momentum

Suriya's Karuppu is marching towards Rs 250 crore at the box office worldwide, continuing its steady theatrical run into the second week. Directed by RJ Balaji, the mythological mass entertainer has been benefiting from strong word of mouth, with many fans calling it a comeback for the actor after a string of underwhelming releases.
According to tracking website Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 7.80 crore nett in India on Day 8. The figure was down just 3.7 per cent from its Day 7 collection of Rs 8.10 crore nett, showing that the film held steady on its second Friday.
Box office trend
The film was screened across 4,521 shows nationwide on Friday and recorded an overall occupancy of 31.4 per cent, slightly higher than the previous day's 30.5 per cent. With the latest figures, Karuppu's total India nett collection stands at Rs 121.65 crore, while its India gross has reached Rs 140.86 crore. Overseas markets also continued to contribute strongly, with the film earning Rs 3.50 crore overseas on Day 8 alone. Its total overseas gross has now touched Rs 60 crore.
