The route will operate five round-trip flights per week, improving connectivity between Phu Quoc and one of Asia’s major financial and commercial hubs.
Passengers on the inaugural service received commemorative gifts featuring the airline’s signature sun symbol. Several travelers said the direct connection offered a more convenient alternative to previous transit options.
Amanda Lee, a passenger from Hong Kong, described the service as professional, citing comfortable seating, attentive cabin crew and onboard meals.

Sun PhuQuoc Airways, which positions itself as a full-service carrier, said passengers receive complimentary hot meals, checked baggage allowances and access to a wireless in-flight entertainment system. Business-class passengers also have access to premium services and the Sun Executive Lounge.
According to the airline, Hong Kong is a high-spending outbound tourism market with strong demand for leisure travel, aligning with Phu Quoc’s growing reputation as a resort destination.
The launch comes as Phu Quoc continues attracting international attention. The South China Morning Post recently highlighted the island’s combination of natural scenery and tourism offerings, while Vietnam’s 30-day visa exemption policy for foreign visitors has helped increase interest among Hong Kong travelers.

To mark the route launch, passengers will receive complimentary cable car tickets and discounts of up to 30% on accommodation, dining and spa services at participating properties and attractions.

The Hong Kong route follows the airline’s earlier launches connecting Phu Quoc with Taipei and Seoul. Under its “Rise to the World” strategy, Sun PhuQuoc Airways plans to expand further into Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and India, with longer-term plans to operate routes to Europe and the Middle East.
“Step by step, we’re turning our vision into reality: helping Phu Quoc become Vietnam’s third international aviation gateway,” said the carrier’s representative.
