Since the formation of the new TVK government in Tamil Nadu, there is tremendous turmoil in the politics of the state. Under the leadership of actor-turned-politician and now Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, TVK has emerged as the main ruling party in the state. As soon as he assumed power, the Chief Minister has come into action mode and has taken many such major decisions one after the other which have created a stir in the administrative and political corridors of the entire state.
National anthem controversy flares up in swearing-in ceremony
Controversy has once again arisen in Tamil Nadu politics regarding “Tamil Thai Valthu”. This time the cause of controversy was the swearing-in ceremony of the new government, where “Vande Mataram” was played first and the state anthem of Tamil Nadu (Tamil Thai Valthu) was played after. The opposition has raised sharp questions on this step of the government and Raj Bhavan and has started criticizing the Governor as well as the new government.
Chief Minister’s big administrative hunt, many IAS officers transferred
Immediately after forming the government, Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has made a major reshuffle in the administrative staff. Many prominent and senior IAS officers of the state have been transferred. Since this sudden administrative reshuffle, various types of discussions and speculations have intensified in the state bureaucracy and political circles regarding this new strategy of the Chief Minister.
Bumper expansion of first Rajya Sabha seat and cabinet
A big and good news may soon come from the country’s Parliament for the ruling TVK. After the announcement of by-elections by the Election Commission, it is quite likely that TVK is going to get its first seat in the Rajya Sabha, which will open the party’s account in the Upper House.
Along with this, Chief Minister Joseph Vijay has made a major expansion of his cabinet and included 23 new ministers in the cabinet. The special thing is that in this cabinet expansion, leaders of the coalition partner Congress have also been given a place, due to which the coalition government of the state has started looking stronger than before.
BJP will review Annamalai after crushing defeat, financial burden on government increased
On one hand, the new government is in celebration and action, on the other hand, after facing a crushing defeat in the assembly elections. The Tamil Nadu unit of BJP led by K. Annamalai is now engaged in deep introspection. The party has now decided to hold review meetings at the district level to find out the reasons for the defeat so that a new strategy can be prepared for the future.
Amidst all these political upheavals, the challenges of the new government on the economic front do not seem to be less. Economic experts have expressed deep concern over the state’s new tax system, revenue collection and ever-increasing financial burden, which may prove to be a big test for Chief Minister Joseph Vijay in the coming days.
