Rajya Sabha Chairman CP Radhakrishnan has brought forth a major political development by reconstituting the important petition committee of the Upper House, while Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha, who left the Aam Aadmi Party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, has been nominated as the new chairman of this committee. This appointment has come into effect with immediate effect, adding another important milestone in the political journey of Raghav Chadha. The Chairman has also nominated ten other members in this committee, who will play their role in the legislative work of the country.
This important appointment has been confirmed in detail in an official notification issued by the Rajya Sabha Secretariat. The notification clearly states that Chairman CP Radhakrishnan has reconstituted the petition committee, while this reconstitution has become effective from May 20. Raghav Chadha has been appointed Chairman of this very important committee, which will make his political activism and his role in the House more effective. It is noteworthy that Raghav Chadha has been in the center of discussion for some time regarding his political activities, due to which this appointment is being considered even more important for him.

Apart from Raghav Chadha, many other prominent MPs of the country have also been included in this ten-member petition committee, due to which diversity and experience will be seen in the functioning of the committee. Other members of this committee prominently include the names of Harsh Mahajan, Ghulam Ali, Shambhu Sharan Patel, Mayankkumar Nayak, Mastan Rao Yadav Beedha, JB Mather Hisham, Subhashish Khuntia, Rongvara Narjari and Sandosh Kumar P. This committee deeply considers various petitions received in the Rajya Sabha and serious matters to public interest, while its decisions have a direct impact on public life and government policies.
Apart from this, the Rajya Sabha Secretariat has also issued another important notification informing that the Chairman has also entrusted a big responsibility to Rajya Sabha member Dr. Maneka Guruswamy on May 20, 2026. He has been nominated as a member of the Joint Committee on the Corporate Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026, while this bill has been brought with the aim of reforming the rules to the corporate world and making them compatible with the current economic environment. This appointment of Dr. Guruswamy also underlines his contribution to the legislative work of the House. These appointments are expected to increase the workload and efficiency of the committees in the Rajya Sabha, while both the appointments will play an important role in maintaining the smooth functioning of the House.
