In Indian Railways, getting a confirmed or tatkal ticket from the counter during festivals or on normal days is no less than winning a big battle. Meanwhile, the tricks of the touts operating at the ticket counters take away the remaining peace of mind and money from the common passengers. But to relieve the general public from this huge problem, East Central Railway has found a very modern and strong technical solution. the railways "Q-Mitra" (Q-Mitra) system, which literally means "queue friend" (Friend of Queue). After the implementation of this new system, now there is no need for passengers to stand for hours at the ticket counter of the railway station and wait for their turn. Passengers can now receive a digital token directly through their mobile phone and schedule their booking from the comfort of their home. How does this smart and high-tech system of ‘Q-Mitra’ work? The real magic and security of the Q-Mitra system rests on the personal digital identity of the passengers. To avail this service, passengers will have to go through a very simple process: Registration: First of all, passengers will have to register themselves online on the system using their active mobile number and Aadhaar Card. Digital Token: Once the registration process is completed, a digital token with a unique QR code will be generated on the passenger’s mobile phone. This token will contain the probable time limit of booking and your turn number. Biometric Verification: The most powerful and special thing about this system is that when you reach the ticket counter when your turn comes, there will be state-of-the-art face recognition cameras installed there. The ticket will be issued by the ticket booking clerk only when the face of the person generating the token matches 100% with the passenger standing at the counter. Indian Railways officials believe that this impenetrable system is fully capable of eliminating black marketing and brokerage of tickets at the counters. As per security rules, only one digital token can be generated from each Aadhar card in a whole day. Tight security: Due to this restriction, no tout or anti-social element will be able to obtain tokens in bulk by misusing the ID proof or documents of other innocent passengers. Since face matching is mandatory at the counter, the broker cannot stand and issue a ticket in someone else’s name even if he wants to. Big success in Begusarai, will be expanded to other stations soon. According to East Central Railway, this pilot project is currently completely successful at Begusarai Railway Station in Bihar, where passengers are getting tickets very easily without standing in queues. Seeing the great success of Begusarai, the administration is now going to implement this system in a phased manner on all the major and big stations of the zone including Ara Railway Station very soon. This digital initiative of the Railway Administration is really commendable. If you too were troubled by the nexus of brokers and huge crowd while purchasing Tatkal ticket or normal counter ticket during travel, then Q-Mitra has come as a big relief for you. In the coming days, when it will be implemented on the entire rail network of the country, Indian Railways travel will become more transparent, safe and accessible than ever for common citizens.
