A popular soup sold at Whole Foods is being recalled by the manufacturer for possible undeclared allergens, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration reports.
Whole Foods Market Kitchen Minestrone Soup may contain undeclared shrimp, the manufacturer Kettle Cuisine announced recently. The soup is packaged in clear 24-ounce plastic cups and is marked with a lot code of 1762181, a use-by date May 27, 2026, and a UPC identifier of 099482502065 on the label.
The product was distributed online on the Whole Foods and Amazon websites and in the following states and district: Alabama, Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
So far, no illnesses have been reported in connection with the consumption of this soup. The recall occurred after a single cup of soup was discovered to have been filled with the incorrect product, which contained shrimp.
People who have allergies to shellfish could experience serious or life-threatening allergic reactions after they consume this product. Consumers who have purchased this product are encouraged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
