Reports emerging from Italy indicate that Manchester United and Atalanta have reached an agreement over the transfer fee for Brazilian midfielder Ederson, a deal that could generate up to €53 million for La Dea.

According to an exclusive report from SportItalia, both clubs have ‘concluded’ their discussions, with Ederson’s permanent move to Old Trafford now seemingly imminent.

The report released on Friday states that Manchester United are prepared to pay a guaranteed amount of €48 million, with an additional €5 million in potential bonuses, bringing the total value of the transfer to €53 million. However, some other Italian media sources suggest the figure could instead be €45 million plus €5 million in bonuses, making it a €50 million package overall.

If confirmed, this move would rank among the most expensive outgoing transfers in Atalanta’s history. The record sale remains Rasmus Hojlund’s transfer to Manchester United, valued at €75 million plus up to €10 million in performance-related add-ons. Other major sales include Mateo Retegui’s €62 million move to Al-Qadsiah last summer, Teun Koopmeiners’ €58 million switch to Juventus, and Cristian Romero’s transfer to Tottenham Hotspur for around €53 million.

During the current Serie A season, Ederson has featured in 30 matches, contributing two goals and one assist. He has also scored once and provided one assist across nine Champions League appearances this campaign.

Ederson has been with Atalanta for four seasons, joining the Bergamo club from Salernitana in 2022.
