Google has added a new perk to its AI Pro plan. The company is now offering a free YouTube Premium Lite subscription to select users. This means that customers subscribed to the AI Pro plan can enjoy an ad-free viewing experience for most videos on YouTube. This move by Google is seen as an effort to make the Gemini AI plan more appealing. However, a significant condition is attached to this feature—one that may disappoint many users in India.

**Which Users Will Receive This Benefit?**
The company has clarified that the free YouTube Premium Lite benefit is available exclusively to customers who are paying directly for the Google AI Pro plan. In other words, only those who are purchasing the AI Pro subscription out of their own pocket will be able to avail themselves of this feature.

However, users who received an 18-month free AI Pro membership through Google's partnership with Reliance Jio will not have access to this YouTube Premium Lite feature during their trial period. This means that users who availed the Jio offer will have to wait to access this new benefit.

**What is YouTube Premium Lite?**
YouTube Premium Lite is a lighter and more affordable version of YouTube Premium. In India, it is priced at ₹89. Under this plan, users can watch most standard videos without advertisements.

However, it does not offer a completely ad-free experience. Advertisements may still appear on Shorts, music content, and search result pages. Therefore, it does not provide the comprehensive experience offered by the standard YouTube Premium plan.

**Which Features Are Excluded?**
YouTube Premium Lite does not include several premium features. It does not come with YouTube Music Premium. Additionally, features such as advanced playback controls, video queuing capabilities, and high-quality audio support are not included in this plan. Consequently, this plan is best suited for users who wish to reduce advertisements at a lower cost but do not consider the full suite of premium features to be essential.

**Major Changes to Gemini AI as Well**
Google has introduced this change at a time when the company is also revamping the way users interact with Gemini AI. Previously, AI Pro users were subject to a daily prompt limit. However, Google is now transitioning to a compute-based system. Under this new system, a user's AI usage will be determined by the complexity of the query, the length of the conversation, and the specific AI tools being utilized.

How will the new usage system work?
Google has informed its subscribers via email that Gemini AI limits will now refresh every five hours, provided the user has not yet reached their weekly limit.

In other words, users will no longer receive a fixed daily prompt limit; instead, their usage will depend on the depth and complexity of their AI interactions. This may make it difficult for some users to predict their AI usage.
