New Delhi . There has been a long tradition of romantic films in Hindi cinema, where love stories have made a special place in the hearts of the audience. But it is not necessary that every new effort reaches the same level. Lakshya and Ananya Panday’s new film ‘Chand Mera Dil’ is also one such attempt, which came with the intention of presenting a love story on the big screen, but due to its presentation and writing, it does not live up to the expectations.

The story of the film revolves around Aarav Rawat and Chandni Prasad, who meet each other during their college days and love gradually blossoms between them. The worlds of both are different and family circumstances also do not allow their relationship to be easy. While Aarav’s family lives under the pressure of social image and expectations, Chandni’s life is spent amidst domestic conflicts and emotional insecurity. In such an environment, both support each other and try to take their relationship forward.

Later in the story, there comes a turn which completely changes the lives of both of them. This is the point where the film could have created a stronger emotional connect, but it is here that its pace and grip weakens. The lack of depth in the script is clearly felt and the events seem predictable. The audience already understands the next step of the story, due to which the thrill and curiosity gradually diminishes.

Lakshya has tried to play his character Aarav honestly and maturity is visible in his performance. Ananya Pandey has tried to express emotions in the character of Chandni, but the writing style of the character limits her. The chemistry between the two actors is there on screen, but the weak story doesn’t give it enough opportunity to be effective.

The weakest aspect of the film can be considered its writing and dialogues. At many places the dialogues seem artificial and old-fashioned, which makes it difficult to connect with today’s audience. The pace of the story also remains uneven, due to which the film feels long and drawn out at times. Some emotional scenes try to make an impact, but due to lack of proper preparation and production, their impact remains limited.

Talking about the technical side, the music and some scenes of the film seem relatively better, which gives some relief to the story. But these elements are not enough to handle the entire film. The audience expects a strong story from beginning to end, but the film fails to fully satisfy that expectation.

Overall, ‘Chand Mera Dil’ remains a love story, which looks attractive in thought but does not have the same impact on screen. This film proves to be an immersive experience for the audience, which is full of emotions but the lack of an effective story is clearly visible.
