Delhi government strict on Bakrid: Complete ban on sacrifice in public places, action will be taken on violation

New Delhi, 22 May. Delhi government has issued strict guidelines regarding Bakrid. Delhi Government Minister Kapil Mishra released a video on his official ‘X’ handle on Friday giving information about these instructions and said that strict legal action will be taken against any violation. Minister Kapil Mishra clarified that sacrificing cattle, cows, calves, camels and other prohibited animals on the occasion of Bakrid is completely illegal. Criminal cases will be registered against those who do so.

According to the main guidelines of the Delhi government, “No sacrifice of any kind will be allowed in public places, roads, streets or parks during Bakrid. Sacrifice can be performed only at designated and authorized places. Throwing of waste, blood or other remains after the sacrifice into drains, sewers or any public place is strictly prohibited. Also, illegal buying and selling of cattle in markets, setting up temporary animal markets on roads and Illegal trafficking of animals will also be completely banned.”

Kapil Mishra said, “The Development Ministry of the Delhi government has issued guidelines for Bakrid. Sacrifice of cows, calves and banned animals is illegal. There is a complete ban on sacrifice in public places. Throwing blood or garbage in the drains is also prohibited. Sacrifice should be done only at designated places.” He appealed to the people of Delhi to immediately inform the Delhi Police or the Development Ministry of Delhi Government if they see any person violating these guidelines. The minister said that the festival should be celebrated peacefully and within the ambit of law.

He also wished everyone a happy Bakrid. Delhi Police and Development Ministry are ready to strictly implement these guidelines. In previous years too, complaints to sacrifice and cleanliness in public places during Bakrid in Delhi had come to light, after which the government has already decided to take strict action this time.
