Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, in the review meeting of the Cooperative Department, gave instructions to run the PACS membership campaign till June 30 and to add 10 lakh new members. Also emphasis was laid on strengthening weak district cooperative banks, increasing KCC target and digital transaction facility.

Bhopal. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, while reviewing the activities of the Cooperative Department on May 21, gave instructions to intensify the membership campaign in Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS). He said that the membership campaign which started from April 14 should be continued till June 30 and during this period the target of adding 10 lakh new members should be achieved. The Chief Minister also said that a target should be set to approve 1.25 lakh new Kisan Credit Cards (KCC) every year in the state. In the meeting, Cooperative Minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang, Chief Secretary Anurag Jain and Principal Secretary D.P. Ahuja was present.

Preparation to strengthen weak district cooperative banks in 3 years

Appreciating the efforts of strengthening the District Cooperative Central Banks, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that all the weak District Cooperative Banks should be strengthened in the next three years. Officials informed that in the last two and a half years, there has been improvement in the financial condition of 6 out of 18 weak district banks.

Work is being done to strengthen Rewa, Satna, Jabalpur, Shivpuri, Gwalior and Datia district banks through government share capital assistance. After this, in the next phase, work will be done on the plan to strengthen Bhind, Morena, Raisen, Sagar, Sidhi and Narmadapuram district banks.

Transaction facility through mobile app in PACS will start soon

The Chief Minister directed that to ease the process of transaction in PACS, a mobile app based transaction system should be developed. Officials said that under the Centrally Sponsored Computerization Scheme, computerization of all 4536 PACS committees of the state has been completed. Madhya Pradesh is among the leading states of the country in terms of 100% computerization. Soon members will also start getting the facility of transaction through mobile app.

Cooperative institutions increased seed production and expansion of milk societies

It was informed in the meeting that 14 lakh quintals of certified seeds have been produced and marketed in the last two years through seed producer cooperative institutions. Apart from this, 1102 new milk committees were formed in the state, due to which the total number of milk committees has increased to 5562.

To promote financial inclusion, bank accounts of 76 thousand members have been opened in district cooperative banks. Besides, work has also been done on a large scale on recruitment and institutional capacity building in cooperative institutions.

Increased participation and business with national cooperative societies

Officials informed that the state has promoted partnership and business with new cooperative societies formed at the national level. State Cooperative Seed Association has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bharatiya Seed Cooperative Society Limited (BBSSL), which has led to a turnover of Rs 17 crore and 844 PACS taking membership.

MoU of Cooperative Marketing Federation was signed with National Cooperative Organic Limited (NCOL) in which 1335 PACS gained membership. At the same time, 1612 packs are included in the agreement with National Cooperative Export Limited (NCEL). At present the process of marking the products is going on.
