Car AC Tips:The AC of old cars often starts weakening during the summer season. Many times the cabin does not cool down quickly despite the AC gas being full. In such a situation, by adopting some easy tips, you can improve the cooling of the AC of your old car and enjoy a comfortable journey even in the scorching heat.
Cleaning of AC filter is necessary
Dust accumulation is the most common problem in old cars. When the cabin air filter is dirty, the air flow reduces, which affects the cooling of the AC. Get the air filter cleaned before the summer starts. If the filter is too damaged then it would be better to replace it. This is an easy way to improve the performance of AC at low cost.
Do not run full AC as soon as you start the car.
The cabin of a car parked in the sun becomes very hot. In such a situation, running the AC at full speed as soon as you start the vehicle increases the pressure on the compressor. It would be better to keep the car windows down for the first 1-2 minutes and only run the blower. This will allow the hot air inside to come out. After this, close the windows and turn on the AC.
Use recirculation mode
The recirculation mode present in the car is very helpful in summers. By keeping this mode on, the AC recirculates the cold air of the cabin instead of drawing hot air from outside. This cools the car quickly and puts less pressure on the AC.
Condenser cleaning is also necessary
The AC condenser installed inside the bonnet of the car gets filled with dust and dirt over time. Due to this the gas is not cooled properly. Make sure to get the condenser cleaned during service.
park at the right place
Park the car in the shade as far as possible. If shade is not available, use a windshield sunshade. This will keep the cabin temperature low and the AC will not have to work hard.
