Manchester United have officially announced the signing of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, bringing an end to a long and closely watched transfer saga.

After weeks of negotiations and multiple rejected offers, United have finally reached an agreement with Brentford for a deal reportedly valued at up to £71 million ($95.5m). The 25-year-old winger from Cameroon has signed a contract running until 2030, with an option to extend for an additional year.

Speaking about his move, Mbeumo revealed his excitement at joining the Premier League giants and expressed admiration for head coach Ruben Amorim. He told the club’s official website: “As soon as I realised there was a possibility to join Manchester United, I knew I had to take it. This is the club I dreamt of playing for since childhood, the one whose jersey I wore growing up. My approach is always to improve every single day. I believe I have the mentality and drive to reach new heights here, learning from Ruben Amorim and playing alongside world-class teammates. Everyone spoke to me about the positive atmosphere at the club and the ambitious vision for the future. This is a huge club with an incredible stadium and passionate fans, and together we are determined to fight for the biggest trophies.”

Although the move is a major step for Mbeumo, he faces a significant challenge. Manchester United endured a difficult campaign last season, finishing 15th in the Premier League—five places behind Brentford—and struggled to find the back of the net consistently. The Red Devils now hope that Mbeumo, one of their costliest signings in recent history, can inject much-needed creativity and goals into their attack.

Mbeumo, who netted 20 Premier League goals for Brentford last season, is expected to join his new teammates shortly as the squad prepares to travel to the United States for their pre-season tour.

Manchester United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, praised the new signing, stating: “Bryan’s record of goals and assists in the Premier League speaks for itself. His consistent performances over the past three seasons have placed him among the most productive players in England. Bryan’s commitment to our project and his desire to be part of Manchester United made it clear that he was the ideal addition to our squad and the culture we are building. We’re thrilled to have secured another key target ahead of the pre-season tour. The upcoming trip to the US will be a great opportunity for Bryan to work closely with Ruben and his new teammates as we prepare for an exciting season ahead.”

Mbeumo’s arrival marks a statement move by the Red Devils as they look to rebuild and reestablish themselves among the Premier League’s elite in the coming seasons.
