The Ministry of Manpower (MOM), Singapore has introduced new changes to the myMOM Portal to make work pass applications easier and faster for employers and foreign workers.
The decision to launch a new portal aims to reduce paperwork, cutting down manual data entry, and making the application process more user-friendly. For many work pass applicants, the system will now automatically fill in personal details using passport information already stored in the portal.
Existing Work Pass Applicants Will See Faster Processing
Under the new changes, applicants who already have a Foreign Identification Number (FIN) and uploaded valid passport details to the system will no longer need to repeatedly enter the same information.
The myMOM Portal will automatically pre-fill those details during the work pass application process. This will save time and reduce common mistakes that most applicants make while typing information manually.
Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower has also reorganised the application form to make it simpler to complete. The updated layout improves usability and makes the process smoother for both employers and applicants.
Singapore Plans More Automation for New Applicants
The Ministry is also working on extending this feature to applicants who do not yet have any existing records in the system.
In future updates, the portal will be able to extract details directly from uploaded passport copies and automatically insert them into the application form. This could further speed up Singapore work pass applications and reduce document-related errors.
New Passport Upload Rules Explained
Alongside the portal improvements, Singapore has also updated its travel document upload requirements.
Applicants now only need to upload the biodata page of their passport or travel document. Additional Amendments or Observation pages are required only if they contain changes linked to the biodata information.
The Ministry has also clarified a few technical requirements for document uploads:
- Each passport page must be saved as a separate image file.
- Accepted formats include JPG, PNG, and PDF.
- Uploaded images must be properly oriented and in landscape format.
- The biodata page should always be uploaded first.
Applicants who fail to meet these requirements could face delays in processing their work pass applications.
What This Means for Foreign Workers in Singapore
The latest myMOM Portal updates are part of Singapore’s broader push to digitalise immigration and employment services.
For foreign workers and employers, the changes could mean less paperwork, fewer application mistakes, and quicker submissions. While the update may seem small, it could make a noticeable difference for companies handling large numbers of work pass applications.
Travellers and professionals planning to work in Singapore should also pay close attention to the new passport upload rules to avoid unnecessary delays.
