New Delhi/Delhi: The Indian government has come on full alert mode regarding the Ebola virus which is spreading in some parts of the world. As a precautionary measure, the Union Health Ministry has issued a special health advisory for international travelers at all airports, ports and entry points in the country. However, it is a matter of relief that till now not a single case of Ebola has been reported in the country, but as a precautionary surveillance system has been tightened very much.

Passengers coming from these countries will be thoroughly checked
According to the guidelines issued by the Health Ministry, special monitoring will be done on passengers coming directly from Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo), Uganda and South Sudan or reaching India via these countries. Health officials have been instructed to conduct intensive thermal screening of passengers coming from these ‘high risk’ countries.

‘Don’t hide symptoms when you see them, inform immediately’
The advisory clearly states that if any passenger experiences symptoms like fever, vomiting, severe weakness, headache or body ache on arrival in India or during travel, they should immediately report it to the airport health desk or health officer before the immigration check. Apart from this, if such symptoms develop even within 21 days of arrival in India, an appeal has been made to immediately inform the nearest health center and share your travel history. The government has asked passengers to cooperate fully in this screening process in the interest of public safety.
