The NDA and Naval Academy (NDA NA) examination is designed to select qualified male and female candidates for admission into the Army, Navy, and Air Force wings of the NDA, as well as the Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC). This examination is conducted by the UPSC in an offline format using OMR sheets, comprising two objective-type papers: Mathematics and the General Ability Test (GAT).

A total of 451 officer positions will be filled through the Combined Defence Services-II examination. This includes 100 vacancies for the IMA, 26 for the INA Ezhimala, 32 for the Air Force Academy in Hyderabad, 275 for the Officers Training Academy (Men), and 18 for women candidates.
