Jimmy Kimmel made fans and audience emotional with his heartfelt tribute to fellow colleague Stephen Colbert prior to latter’s retirement.
Colbert, who has been doing his late-night show for the past 11 years, is finally saying goodbye.
Stephen and his fellows are having a hard time accepting his exit, but they are making sure to make his departure memorable.
Kimmel, in the latest episode of his show, took time out to mention the 62-year-old’s retirement and out of respect he announced that he won’t be doing a new episode on Thursday, considering that Stephen will be hosting his last episode on May 21.
He added, “I think you know how I feel about the fact that they are being pushed out. I hope the people who did the pushing feel ashamed of themselves tonight, although I know they probably won’t.”
“But that being said, I think it is most important to congratulate Stephen and the team at the Late Show for all the great work over the last year and all the great work he will continue to do in other venues. I have no doubt.”
The host in an emotional confession stated, “We never felt like we were competing against them. Was nothing like the old days of late night. I always love being on Stephen’s show and I loved having him here on ours.”
Kimmel hopes that he gets the chance to that again.
